Cristian Mariani
Hello.
I am a Research Fellow at the Istituto di Studi Filosofici (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland, where I am currently the PI of an SNF Ambizione Grant entitled 'Quantum Indeterminacy. A Metaphysics for Spontaneous Collapse Models of Quantum Mechanics' (see here for details).
I work mainly in analytic metaphysics and philosophy of science, and am particularly interested in the interactions between these two fields. In the last years I have been focusing on the topic of metaphysical indeterminacy, especially as applied to quantum physics, and have published a few works on this (see here). My other research interests are in the philosophy of time, the metaphysics of science broadly construed (laws, causation, emergence), and the foundations of quantum mechanics (I like GRW).
Previously I have been a Postdoc at the Institut Néel (CNRS) in Grenoble, at the Universitat de Barcelona, and at the Università degli Studi di Milano. I earned my PhD in 2020 at the Università Statale di Milano, and spent visiting research periods at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, Rutgers University, University of Geneva, and University of Sydney.
I am currently the guest editor of a topical collection entitled 'New Perpectives in Quantum Foundations' for the European Journal for Philosophy of Science. Info for submissions can be found here.
I love dogs unconditionally, and I support FC Internazionale Milano, also unconditionally.
